As Co-Editors-in-Chief, we are responsible to oversee the process leading up to publication. The Editor-in-Chief provides vital training and support for the copy & layout editors and maintains communication with the contributing writers, editors, photographers, and printers, therby allowing the public health sector to continue having a voice in the health of our community, environment, policies, and the world. This year, we are excited to foster the growth of the publication and look forward to building strong relationships with our community and dedicated staff.
The Co-Editors-in-Chief of the 2016-2017 year are Mercedes Li and Kaitlyn Rice.
The Managing Editor is a senior member of the publication’s management team. They are responsible for overseeing and coordinating the publication’s editorial activities, including managing the budget, staffing, and scheduling for The Public Health Advocate.
The Managing Editors of the 2016-2017 year are Elizabeth Li, Jasmine Tatah, Jessie Dusebout, and Vedaja Surapaneni.
The role of the Layout Editors is vital to ensure the highest quality of the publication. Due to their work, The Public Health Advocate has been able to maintain its esteemed, award-winning articles year after year. Within the publication, layout editors have the ability to decide how the overall publication will be published. Working with the editor-in-chief, layout editors are trained on Adobe InDesign CC and use the program as well as their creative talents and aesthetic eye to design the layout and represent The Public Health Advocate in print.
Copy Editors are vital to ensure the highest quality of the publication. Due to their efforts, The Public Health Advocate has been able to maintain its esteemed, award-winning articles year after year. Responsibilities of Copy Editors include ensuring submitted articles have been thoroughly read and edited for content, grammar, and syntax as well as maintaining clear, open communication with their respective writers and providing feedback and assistance to writers.
At the heart of a publication is its writers. Every year our dedicated group of contributing writers have made it possible for The Public Health Advocate to continue providing its readers with articles pertinent to healthcare and the public health community. Writers of The Public Health Advocate enjoy bringing such awareness for their readers and are empowered with a voice and a medium to publish articles they feel are informative, interesting, and/or vital to the health of the community and the nation. We welcome writers from all campus departments, ranging from English Literature to Molecular and Cell Biology.
